ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,290,765, issued on May 6, was assigned to Natera Inc. (San Carlos, Calif.).

"Materials and methods for processing blood samples" was invented by Aoy Tomita Mitchell (Elm Grove, Wis.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided herein are materials and methods relating to cell-free DNA. In particular, the technology relates to methods and materials for the preparation and handling of blood samples for future use in applications involving cell-free DNA."

The patent was filed on Feb. 20, 2024, under Application No. 18/582,572.
