ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,512,741, issued on Dec. 30, was assigned to Nanyang Technological University (Singapore).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An energy harvester having an electromagnet and a triboelectric nanogenerator. The triboelectric nanogenerator has triboelectric layers configured to be spaced apart by a gap width. Displacement of a magnet of the electromagnet is configured to enable the triboelectric layers to contact one another, in which the gap width is configured to be smaller than the displacement."
