ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,410,478, issued on Sept. 9, was assigned to Myriad Genetics Inc. (Salt Lake City).

"Hereditary cancer genes" was invented by Kirsten Timms (Salt Lake City), Brian Allen (Salt Lake City) and Anne-Renee Hartman (Salt Lake City).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention generally relates to a molecular classification of disease predisposition and particularly to molecular markers for cancer predisposition and methods of use thereof."

The patent was filed on July 22, 2021, under Application No. 17/383,093.
