ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 13 -- United States Patent no. 12,522,743, issued on Jan. 13, was assigned to MURATA MANUFACTURING Co. LTD. (Kyoto, Japan).

"Printing foundation" was invented by Ryuki Kakuta (Nagaokakyo, Japan), Takahiro Hirao (Nagaokakyo, Japan) and Manabu Sakai (Nagaokakyo, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A printing foundation includes a support having a porous structure and a functional layer in contact with the support and including a plurality of resin particles including a surface at least portion of which is covered by polyvinyl alcohol."
