ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,435,025, issued on Oct. 7, was assigned to MTI Biotech Inc. (Ames, Iowa).
"Triphenylphosphonium-tethered salicylamine derivatives" was invented by Kevin Moore (Ames, Iowa), Michael P. Murphy (Newmarket, Great Britain), Naji Abumrad (Nashville, Tenn.) and John Fuller Jr. (Zearing, Iowa).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Novel salicylamine derivatives are targeted directly to the mitochondria to increase effectiveness and lower required dosages in the treatment of conditions caused by inflammation or oxidative stress."
The patent was filed on Jan. 27, 2020, under Application No. 17/425,933.
