ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,276,983, issued on April 15, was assigned to Motional AD LLC (Boston).
"Planning autonomous motion" was invented by Andrea Censi (Somerville, Mass.), Emilio Frazzoli (Newton, Mass.), Hsun-Hsien Chang (Brookline, Mass.), Kostyantyn Slutskyy (Singapore) and Scott D. Pendleton (Singapore).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Among other things, planning a motion of a machine having moving capabilities is based on strategic guidelines derived from various basic principles, such as laws, ethics, preferences, driving experiences, and road environments."
The patent was filed on July 28, 2023, under Application No. 18/361,194.
