ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,336,884, issued on June 24, was assigned to Moldex-Metric Inc. (Culver City, Calif.).

"Foam earplug with transdermal material" was invented by Mark Magidson (Los Angeles), James Hornstein (Studio City, Calif.) and Fred Ryan (Venice, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A foam earplug for reception at least partially within the ear canal and including a body portion formed of resilient foam plastic material having a multiple open cell structure and having a size and shape for at least partial reception within the ear canal.
