ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,297,893, issued on May 13, was assigned to MINEBEA MITSUMI Inc. (Nagano, Japan).
"Speed reducer" was invented by Mitsuhiro Okada (Kitasaku-gun, Japan) and Takayuki Nakamura (Kitasaku-gun, Japan).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A speed reducer includes a sun gear, an internal gear, and a planetary gear meshing with the sun gear and the internal gear. The speed reducer includes two bearings disposed to sandwich the planetary gears in an axial direction. At least one of the two bearings is pressed against the planetary gears in an axial direction by the engaging members."
