US Patent Issued to Milwaukee Electric Tool on Sept. 30 for "Tape measure with variable preformed stressed spiral spring retraction system" (American, Taiwanese Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,429,321, issued on Sept. 30, was assigned to Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. (Brookfield, Wis.).

"Tape measure with variable preformed stressed spiral spring retraction system" was invented by Oluwatosin T. Kolade (Ocoee, Fla.) and Shih-Chi Chou (Taichung, Taiwan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A tool, such as a tape measure, including a spring-based retraction system is shown. The spring-based retraction system is driven by a spiral spring, that has a variable preformed stress profile along the length of the spring."
