ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,304,034, issued on May 20, was assigned to MILWAUKEE ELECTRIC TOOL Corp. (Brookfield, Wis.).

"Impact tool with collapsible member to compensate for thermal expansion" was invented by Mitchell Carlson (Lisbon, Wis.), Ding Feng Hu (Dongguan, China), Zhiqiang Yu (Dongguan, China) and Fanbin Zeng (Dongguan, China).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An impact power tool includes a motor, an output shaft to which a tool bit is attachable for performing work on a workpiece, and an impact mechanism disposed between the motor and the output shaft for converting a continuous torque output from the motor to discrete pulses of torque upon the output shaf...
