ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,325,638, issued on June 10, was assigned to MICROWAVE SOLUTIONS GMBH (Riehen, Switzerland).

"Pyrolysis of polymer waste materials" was invented by Annelie Stapela (Riehen, Switzerland) and Mathys Johannes Rossouw (Rayton Gauteng, Canada).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A pyrolysis method and a pyrolysis reactor for thermal decomposition of polymer waste materials, particularly rubber and plastics waste materials, using a fast pyrolysis process, are disclosed. The waste material is delivered to a pyrolytic chamber, and is heated to a decomposition temperature of the waste material by microwave radiation."
