ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,300,253, issued on May 13, was assigned to Microsoft Technology Licensing LLC (Redmond, Wash.).

"Phase reconstruction in a speech decoder" was invented by Soren Skak Jensen (Vancouver, Canada), Sriram Srinivasan (Sammamish, Wash.) and Koen Bernard Vos (Singapore).

For example, to encode a set of phase values, a speech encoder omits higher-frequency phase values and/or represents at least some of the phase values as a weighted sum of basis functions.
