ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,250,784, issued on March 11, was assigned to Microsoft Technology Licensing LLC (Redmond, Wash.).

"Equipment locking device" was invented by Chia-Ching Huang (Taipei, Taiwan), Kevin Buana (Taoyuan, Taiwan) and Anand Avinash Kulkarni (Sammamish, Wash.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method and a device for locking an equipment with a rack are presented. The device may include a trigger and an equipment locking mechanism, wherein upon the trigger automatically activates the equipment locking mechanism upon contacting a portion of the rack.
