ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,246,855, issued on March 11, was assigned to MICHIGAN TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY (Houghton, Mich.) and ORBION SPACE TECHNOLOGY INC. (Allouez, Mich.).

"On-board propulsion testing apparatus" was invented by Lyon B. King (Houghton, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An interface assembly for connecting an on-board propulsion system to a testing facility includes a support member configured for coupling to a manipulation system and a mounting member configured for coupling to the on-board propulsion system. A plurality of channels extends between and couples the mounting member to the support member."
