US Patent Issued to Meta Platforms on May 20 for "Optimized video call grid for picture-in-picture mode" (Washington Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,308,989, issued on May 20, was assigned to Meta Platforms Inc. (Menlo Park, Calif.).

"Optimized video call grid for picture-in-picture mode" was invented by Shenwei Liu (Bellevue, Wash.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media are configured to perform operations comprising determining a ranking of users participating in a video call; determining a selected number of videos to be included in a grid of videos associated with the video call based on the ranking; and generating the grid of videos based on a combination of the selected number of videos."
