ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,353,625, issued on July 8, was assigned to Meta Platforms Inc. (Menlo Park, Calif.).

"Estimation or control of contact force in actuators using pressure" was invented by Eric Jordan Gonzalez (Stanford, Calif.), Amirhossein Hajiagha Memar (Woodinville, Wash.) and Nicholas Colonnese (Kirkland, Wash.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods, systems, and apparatuses for combining pressure measurement with a dynamic system model to estimate the air mass within an actuator, and then estimate the applied contact force which may be based on a quasi-static deformation model."
