ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,443,084, issued on Oct. 14, was assigned to Merck Patent GmbH (Germany).

"Liquid-crystal display" was invented by Chia-Sheng Hsieh (Taipei, Taiwan), I-Hua Huang (Taipei, Taiwan) and Cheng-Jui Lin (Taipei, Taiwan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A liquid crystal display (LCD) of the chiral polymer stabilized alignment (C-PSA) mode, a method of its production and its use as an energy-saving display."

The patent was filed on Dec. 14, 2022, under Application No. 18/720,222.
