ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,251,382, issued on March 18, was assigned to Merck Patent GmbH (Darmstadt, Germany).

"Substituted amino-pyrimidine compound for use in a method for treatment and prevention of multiple sclerosis" was invented by Martin Dyroff (Wayland, Mass.), David Mitchell (Broomfield, Colo.) and Orestis Papasouliotis (Geneva).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods, compositions, and medical kits are useful for treating and preventing multiple sclerosis using 1-(4-(((6-amino-5-(4-phenoxyphenyl)pyrimidin-4-yl)amino)methyl)piperidin-1-yl)prop-2-en-1-one, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, according to preferred dosing regimens."
