ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,325,800, issued on June 10, was assigned to Merck Patent GmbH (Darmstadt, Germany).
"Laser additive" was invented by Ralf Petry (Griesheim, Germany), Adeliene Schmitt (Heidelberg, Germany) and Christof Hampel (Frankfurt am Main, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a laser additive comprising core/shell particles, to a process for the preparation of a laser additive of this type, and to the use thereof, in particular as laser absorber in plastics and plastic-containing coatings of articles."
The patent was filed on Sept. 15, 2020, under Application No. 17/760,807.
