ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,389,924, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to MEIJI Co. LTD. (Tokyo).

"Water-containing chocolate-like confectionery and method for producing water-containing chocolate-like confectionery" was invented by Kazuya Inoue (Tokyo), Masamichi Tokunaga (Tokyo), Kaoru Higaki (Tokyo) and Hiroyuki Utsunomiya (Tokyo).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A water-containing chocolate-like confectionery, which comprises an oil-in-water type emulsified mixture, wherein the mixture has a water content of 20% by weight or less, and a water activity of 0.7 or less."

The patent was filed on Nov. 29, 2019, under Application No. 17/298,175.
