ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,284,995, issued on April 29, was assigned to Medway Plastics Corp. (Long Beach, Calif.).

"Bait container and variable dispenser" was invented by Richard E. Hutchinson (Lakewood, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A container for dispensing bait in variable amounts and at variable rates. A method can include changing configurations of two attachable sleeves, where the different configurations result in different overlapping of openings in the attachable sleeves. The different overlapping of openings allows fishermen the flexibility to better control the dispensing of bait and/or chum by varying the size of the openings."
