ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,372,177, issued on July 29, was assigned to Medtronic Xomed Inc. (Jacksonville, Fla.).

"Swivel knuckle connection" was invented by Scott Andrew Singer (Watauga, Texas), Ken Riedel (Weatherford, Texas) and Juan P. Angulo (Lafayette, Colo.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A swivel knuckle assembly for interconnecting a motor and a supply line. The knuckle assembly may include a bearing member to reduce a coefficient of friction. A locking mechanism is disclosed to connect members of the knuckle assembly."

The patent was filed on March 25, 2024, under Application No. 18/616,050.
