ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,220,145, issued on Feb. 11, was assigned to MEDTRONIC VASCULAR INC. (Santa Rosa, Calif.).
"Debulking catheter" was invented by Aram Jamous (Athenry, Ireland) and Alan Ryan (Galway, Ireland).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A debulking catheter includes an advancer for advancing a tissue-removing element, and a linear-force indicator. The linear-force indicator provides feedback to the user based on an amount of linear force being applied to the advancer."
The patent was filed on Feb. 28, 2022, under Application No. 17/682,595.
