US Patent Issued to Medtronic PS Medical on March 25 for "Surgical burs" (Texas Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,256,945, issued on March 25, was assigned to Medtronic PS Medical Inc. (Goleta, Calif.).

"Surgical burs" was invented by Michael Vu (Grand Prairie, Texas) and Donald E. Stearns (Fort Worth, Texas).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A surgical bur is disclosed having cutting and trailing edges and associated flutes and lands. Each flute includes a cutting edge. Each of the trailing edges relatives in a selected dimension to a preceding cutting edge."

The patent was filed on Aug. 4, 2022, under Application No. 17/881,050.
