"Patient state determination based on one or more spectral characteristics of a bioelectrical brain signal" was invented by Dwight E. Nelson (Shoreview, Minn.), Jianping Wu (Chapel Hill, N.C.), Rahul Gupta (Irvine, Calif.) and Yan Zhao (Enschede, Netherlands).
