ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,318,549, issued on June 3, was assigned to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Mass.).

"Methods and devices for providing a stimulus to a subject to induce gamma oscillations" was invented by Li-Huei Tsai (Cambridge, Mass.), Emery Brown (Brookline, Mass.), Hannah Iaccarino (Somerville, Mass.), Anthony James Martorell (Cambridge, Mass.) and Chinnakkaruppan Adaikkan (Somerville, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method includes administering a non-invasive stimulus to a subject having a frequency of about 35 Hz to about 45 Hz to induce synchronized gamma oscillations in at least one brain region of the subject."
