ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,257,320, issued on March 25, was assigned to Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (Boston).
"Gene therapy for NMNAT1-associated retinal degeneration" was invented by Eric A. Pierce (Belmont, Mass.), Luk H. Vandenberghe (Weston, Mass.), Scott Greenwald (Boston) and Emily Brown (Boston).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods and compositions for gene therapy of retinal degeneration related to mutations in nicotinamide mononucleotide adenylyltransferase 1 (NMNAT1)."
