ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,447,293, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to MannKind Corp. (Westlake Village, Calif.).

"Dry powder inhaler and system for drug delivery" was invented by Chad C. Smutney (Watertown, Conn.), P. Spencer Kinsey (Sandy Hook, Conn.), Carl R. Sahi (Coventry, Conn.), Benoit Adamo (North Salem, N.Y.) and John M. Polidoro (Tolland, Conn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A breath-powered, dry powder inhaler, a cartridge, and a pulmonary drug delivery system are provided."
