ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,383,552, issued on Aug. 12, was assigned to MannKind Corp. (Danbury, Conn.).

"Diketopiperazine microparticles with defined specific surface areas" was invented by Marshall L. Grant (Newtown, Conn.), Grayson W. Stowell (Cary, N.C.), Paul Menkin (Branford, Conn.) and John J. Freeman Jr. (New Fairfield, Conn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein are diketopiperazine microparticles having a specific surface area of less than about 67 m2/g. The diketopiperazine microparticle can be fumaryl diketopiperazine and can comprise a drug such as insulin."

The patent was filed on Feb. 7, 2023, under Application No. 18/106,948.
