ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,551,988, issued on Feb. 17, was assigned to Magswitch Automation Co. (Superior, Colo.).

"Magnetic coupling device with at least one of a sensor arrangement and a degauss capability" was invented by David H. Morton (Boulder, Colo.), Paul J. Karp (Thornton, Colo.), Thomas R. Whitt (Redmond, Wash.) and Michael C. Blanchard (Thornton, Colo.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Magnetic coupling devices are disclosed having magnetic field sensors. The magnetic coupling device may include degaussing coils wrapped about pole extension shoes of the magnetic coupling device."

The patent was filed on Jan. 16, 2025, under Application No. 19/024,826.
