ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,340,477, issued on June 24, was assigned to MAGIC LEAP INC. (Plantation, Fla.).

"Contextual-based rendering of virtual avatars" was invented by Thomas Marshall Miller IV (Los Angeles), Josh Anon (Los Angeles), Frank Alexander Hamilton IV (Martinsburg, W.va.), Cole Parker Heiner (Vista, Calif.), Victor Ng-Thow-Hing (Los Altos, Calif.), Rodrigo Cano (Plantation, Fla.), Karen Stolzenberg (Venice, Calif.), Lorena Pazmino (Wilton Manors, Fla.), Gregory Minh Tran (Miami), Stephane Antoine Joseph Imbert (Cary, N.C.) and Anthony Marinello (Cary, N.C.).
