ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,285,488, issued on April 29, was assigned to LTS Lohmann Therapie-Systeme AG (Andernach, Germany).
"Oral dosage form containing theobromine-free cocoa" was invented by Thomas Hille (Neuwied, Germany), Gabriel Wauer (Ahrweiler, Germany) and Frank Seibertz (Bad Breisig, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed are stable dosage forms for oral administration of active pharmaceutical ingredients in which any unpleasant taste sensation, caused by release of the active pharmaceutical ingredient and/or of the excipients in the oral and pharyngeal cavity of the patient, is masked by the use of theobromine-free cocoa."
