ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,420,228, issued on Sept. 23, was assigned to LOEWENSTEIN MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY S.A. (Luxembourg).

"Method and device for separating carbon dioxide from a respiratory gas mixture" was invented by Peter Kremeier (Karlsruhe, Germany) and Andreas Schober (Frankfurt am Main, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to a method and a device for separating carbon dioxide from a respiratory gas mixture. The separation is carried out by means of a membrane which acts as a molecule filter."
