ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,313,587, issued on May 27, was assigned to Life Technologies Corp. (Carlsbad, Calif.).

"Electrophoresis gel cassette and comb" was invented by Timothy Updyke (Temecula, Calif.), Jennifer D. Miller (Oceanside, Calif.), Thomas Diller (Vista, Calif.), Robert Bennett (Encinitas, Calif.) and Siddharth Kannan (Valencia, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided herein is an apparatus for gel electrophoresis comprising a cassette and a comb having at least one wedge-shaped tooth."

The patent was filed on Nov. 2, 2023, under Application No. 18/386,270.
