US Patent Issued to LG Electronics on April 22 for "In-loop filtering-based image coding apparatus and method" (South Korean Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,284,355, issued on April 22, was assigned to LG Electronics Inc. (Seoul, South Korea).

"In-loop filtering-based image coding apparatus and method" was invented by Junghak Nam (Seoul, South Korea) and Jangwon Choi (Seoul, South Korea).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "According to an embodiment of the present document, a method for increasing the accuracy of in-loop filtering is proposed. In an example, the filtering accuracy of chroma blocks can be improved on the basis of luma blocks by performing a cross component adaptive loop filtering process."
