ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,342,652, issued on June 24, was assigned to Lextar Electronics Corp. (Hsinchu, Taiwan).

"Detection device" was invented by Ke-Wei Liu (Hsinchu, Taiwan), Yen-Chih Chou (Hsinchu, Taiwan) and Ming-Jing Lee (Hsinchu, Taiwan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A detection device includes a substrate, a light-emitter, and a light receiver. The substrate includes a first surface area and a second surface area, in which the first surface area has a first reflectance greater than a second reflectance of the second surface area.
