ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,250,198, issued on March 11, was assigned to Level 3 Communications LLC (Denver).

"Federated DNS caching" was invented by Michael Feldpusch (Westminster, Colo.) and Dan Luther (Claremore, Okla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems and methods are provided for distributing a domain name service (DNS) response cache in a DNS resolving system on a network. The systems and methods described herein may improve response times for client queries and also protect the DNS resolving system from DNS related cyber attacks."

The patent was filed on Dec. 14, 2023, under Application No. 18/540,059.
