ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,316,179, issued on May 27, was assigned to LaunchPoint Electric Propulsion Solutions Inc. (Goleta, Calif.).

"Fault-tolerant axial-gap permanent-magnet electric machine" was invented by Brian J. Clark (Santa Barbara, Calif.), Michael R. Ricci (Camarillo, Calif.), David B. Paden (Goleta, Calif.) and Bradley E. Paden (Goleta, Calif.).
