US Patent Issued to KWS VEGETABLES on June 10 for "Garden bean variety 'Lunar'" (Dutch Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,324,399, issued on June 10, was assigned to KWS VEGETABLES B.V. (Gelderland, Netherlands).

"Garden bean variety 'Lunar'" was invented by Gerthon Van De Bunt (Andijk, Netherlands).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new variety of garden bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) designated 'Lunar' is provided. Garden bean variety 'Lunar' is characterized by its dark green pods in mainly the 4 sieve class, heat tolerance, strong, compact and erect plant habit, and resistance to several races of Colletotrichum lindemuthiunum (Anthracnose) and Uromyces appendiculatus (Rust)."
