ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,350,923, issued on July 8, was assigned to Kuraray Europe GmbH (Hattersheim, Germany).
"Interlayer and laminate with controlled debonding zone treatments" was invented by Charles Anthony Smith (Vienna, W.va.) and Stephen John Bennison (Wilmington, Del.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An ionomer-based adhesive polymeric interlayer (API) that provides enhanced properties to rigid substrates through the use of polyvinyl acetal-based controlled debonding zone treatments, and rigid substrate-laminates comprising such interlayers."
The patent was filed on Nov. 22, 2022, under Application No. 18/712,302.
