ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,351,856, issued on July 8, was assigned to KURA BIOTECH INC. (Rancho Dominguez, Calif.).

"Method for detecting opioids, opiates, cannabinoids, or benzodiazepines in a sample with a Beta-glucuronidase enzyme" was invented by Manuel Rozas Andreu (Puerto Varas, Chile) and Daniel E. Almonacid Coronado (Lafayette, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention discloses a highly efficient method for detecting opioids, opiates, cannabinoids, or benzodiazepines present in a sample, comprising the steps of adding to said sample an enzyme with Beta-glucuronidase activity originated from genus Brachyspira or any mutant derived thereof;...
