ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,317,453, issued on May 27, was assigned to Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology (Busan, South Korea).
"Underwater data center" was invented by Taek Hee Han (Busan, South Korea), Hye Min Hong (Busan, South Korea) and Jun Kil Park (Busan, South Korea).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Proposed is an underwater data center including: a support fixed to the bottom of the sea; and a body disposed on the support and having data processing servers arranged in an internal space thereof and a plurality of protrusions protruding radially outward from an outer peripheral surface thereof and arranged in a longitudinal direction thereof."
