ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,368,375, issued on July 22, was assigned to Koninklijke Philips N.V. (Eindhoven, Netherlands).

"Wireless power transfer" was invented by Johannes Wilhemus Draak (Horst, Netherlands), Wilhelmus Gerardus Maria Ettes (Leeuwarden, Netherlands) and Klaas Jakob Lulofs (Veldhoven, Netherlands).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A power transmitter for wirelessly providing power to a power receiver comprises an output circuit comprising a transmitter coil generating a power transfer signal when a drive signal is applied to the output circuit.
