ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,280,202, issued on April 22, was assigned to Koko Medical Inc. (Exton, Pa.).
"Rolling surgical drains" was invented by E. Skott Greenhalgh (Gladwyne, Pa.) and Jason Keiser (Exton, Pa.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Described herein are negative pressure drains configured as "rolling" surgical drains including an invertible porous mesh having an expanded configuration so that negative pressure may be applied out of the invertible porous mesh to extend a uniform negative pressure within the body region being treated. The invertible porous mesh may then be withdrawn into the apparatus without significantly disrupting the tissue."
