ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,220,674, issued on Feb. 11, was assigned to Koch-Glitsch LP (Wichita, Kan.).

"Countercurrent contacting devices" was invented by Izak Nieuwoudt (Wichita, Kan.) and Sergio Escobar (Wichita, Kan.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The contacting device for countercurrent contacting of fluid streams and having a first pair of intersecting grids of spaced-apart and parallel deflector blades and a second pair of intersecting grids of spaced-apart and parallel deflector blades.
