ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,259,078, issued on March 25, was assigned to KNOX Associates Inc. (Phoenix).
"Locking cap for fire department connections" was invented by Jason S. Pedersen (Phoenix), Tab S. Hinton (Phoenix), Nathan M. Becktold (Phoenix) and Bryan E. Pavlovic (Cave Creek, Ariz.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A locking cap may be selectively locked into place within a tubular opening, such as the open end of a standpipe used to charge a building sprinkler system. The locking cap may have a plug portion. A friction load can be used to limit removal of the plug portion."
The patent was filed on Oct. 18, 2023, under Application No. 18/381,533.
