ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,448,334, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to KNAUF GIPS KG (Iphofen, Germany).

"High temperature sag resistant gypsum panel" was invented by Mark K. Hemphill (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.), Qinghua Li (Rolling Meadows, Ill.) and Aaron D. Johnson (Antioch, Ill.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A fire-resistant gypsum panel comprises: a gypsum core layer comprising set gypsum and a high temperature sag-resistant material including mineral wool in an amount between 0.2% and 3.0% by weight of gypsum."

The patent was filed on July 15, 2022, under Application No. 17/865,747.
