ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,390,699, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to Karsten Manufacturing Corp. (Phoenix).

"Golf club head with improved characteristic time" was invented by Cory S. Bacon (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Eric J. Morales (Laveen, Ariz.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A driver-type golf club head having a reduced strike face height and a reduced strike face thickness produces a greater golf ball launch speed while maintaining a conforming CT value. In addition, the driver-type golf club head preserves or improves the club head durability, ball flight path optimization, and forgiveness by careful club head mass distribution."
