ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,425,331, issued on Sept. 23, was assigned to Juniper Networks Inc. (Sunnyvale, Calif.).
"Avoiding loops by preventing further fast reroute (FRR) after an earlier FRR" was invented by Kireeti Kompella (Los Altos, Calif.), Wen Lin (Andover, Mass.) and Kevin Wang (Acton, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In some cases, once Fast Reroute (FRR) has taken place (e.g., for MPLS protection), a further FRR is undesirable, and even detrimental. A mechanism to prevent a further FRR, once such a further FRR is determined to be potentially harmful, is described."
The patent was filed on Nov. 8, 2023, under Application No. 18/505,070.
