ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,378,883, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to Joy Global Underground Mining LLC (Warrendale, Pa.).

"Guide shoe for mining machine" was invented by Ryan E. Perry (Venus, Pa.), Shawn Franklin (Emlenton, Pa.) and Joshua Lutz (Mercer, Pa.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An interface between a guide shoe of a mining machine and a rack includes a first surface positioned on the guide shoe. and a second surface positioned on the rack. At least one of the first surface and the second surface including a profile oriented at an oblique angle relative to a plane of the rack."

The patent was filed on Jan. 13, 2023, under Application No. 18/097,067.
